Thank you for inviting me to your school to share my new book The Words We Share with you and your students! Here is the information mentioned during my presentation:

1. Download a printable “Fact to Fiction: Story Formula” activity worksheet (PDF)

2. Enter the Student Story Contest:

• Students, send in your stories inspired by the “Fact to Fiction” activity by October 31st November 10th, 2023 (EXTENDED) to enter!

  • Entries should have been written using the “Fact to Fiction” activity to start, but students are free to depart from the “formula” to arrive at their final story.

  • Entries may be sent electronically, typed up (DOC, PDF, or email body) or scanned/photographed (JPG less than 5 MB), to: jack@jackwong.ca, or

  • Sent physically to: 7111 Churchill Drive, Halifax, Nova Scotia B3L 3H7 (Note: Must be postmarked by Oct 31. Physical entries will not be returned, sorry!)

  • Entries must include the student’s name, age/grade, and school, and a contact email (student or guardian)

• 1 story will be picked by me based on story merit, and 2 more will be drawn by random — each of the 3 winning stories will be brought to life with an illustration(s) by yours truly!

• The winning students and their schools will be notified by email, with the winning stories and corresponding illustrations made available for download to them. The winning stories and corresponding illustrations will also be shared on this website (jackwong.ca) and social media.
